Got back to Paris Mountain last weekend for the first time in almost 10 weeks. I ran 2 loops of my usual course and was very surprised and happy to feel so well during it all. ~12 miles and no issues. The ground was quite wet from rain and a steady light rain the whole 2 hours, but it was still very nice to be back.
Still ramping my mileage up in preparation for the 40 miler on May 1st. My training goal is a new weekly mileage high of 55 miles, besting my 47.7 I ran a few weeks before the Chattooga 50k. That week in another month or so will include back to back 20 milers, on trails, likely back at Paris Mtn. I may see about getting down to Enoree Passage sometime and get some miles in...being somewhat familiar with most of the Chattooga run sure helped.
Speedwork this week was not pleasant. Enough said. Some minor shin pain has gone away.
I did get new shoes this week: another pair of ASICS GT-2150T - the trail version of my road shoes. Same color/style as my current pair (300+ miles on them so far, but I went up 1/2 a size to 12 to see if that helps the small blisters I get sometimes on the tips of my toes (and the 3 toenails I still haven't lost, but they are still hanging on at the edges...). 1st test run tomorrow on the road ,then back on the trails for an 18 mile test this Sunday (so I'll have to dodge bikes)

More Shoes!
As I posted previously - I bought new shoes recently because I would need some this year and there was a sale. Not a great sale, but a sale nonetheless. The photo above is what I had come home with.
Then I heard Fleet Feet was having their big annual birthday sale so I thought I'd go check out some running pants. Saw no pants for me, but I did see my shoes (The only Asics, and the only size they had in them were mine!). On sale. A Real sale (half of what I had paid at the last "sale"!). Of course I bought all they had. 5 pair this time. Got home and laughed at the fact that I had 9 pair of brand new shoes.
The colors were not as varied - one pair of the same White/Black/Flame and 4 pair of a different blue version.
I did something that may not be kosher - but I swapped a pair of the newest blue ones for a Goldenrod pair. I doubt they would care and even when I pointed out the shoes didn't match the box - they didn't care. So now I have 5 pair of 3 different colors, so I'll be able to alternate colors this year.
I still need to buy some new Trail running shoes...

Day after...shoes galore!
So I decided to write again - twice in two days! I got up and ran this morning, just an easy 7 miler at my usual spot. Was colder than I thought, but the 2nd l/s shirt was enough. I was definitely going to take it easy after my race yesterday. No real issues today thankfully. Did not push hard, even on the last lap - so I have that feel like I accomplished something other than 7 miles. I did buy some more shoes Friday at Fleet Feet - my shop of choice. Their 10 year b-day sale was going on and I got another pair of Asics 2130's. My 3rd pair (1st was for training for NYC), 2nd was for the marathon and I continue to run in them as they only have 250 or so miles on them. I would have liked to get another pair or two - but I think that was their last pair (took one right off the display stand). I am Bad about keeping shoes...have another pair of old Landreths (2 pair) and Nimbus that didn't work out for me and have little mileage on them. I need to find a good place to donate them...My everyday out and about shoes are another pair of old comfortable Landreths. Then I have my old 2120's. And my old 2130's. Then there are my 2 pair of trail running shoes. And my Asics Trainers that I race my 5k's in. How many is that? I guess about 6 pair too many!! But until my wife really says something - it'll just go on until I get more tired of looking at all the shoes I don't wear!
As far as my calf goes - I think I will only run the ICAR campus hills once or twice a week at most. I'll have to go back over to Oak Grove as I start up my marathon training after next week, easier to do speed work, etc.
